People often talk about how the concept of ownership gives way to the use of shared resources. But how does the rental industry interpret this trend? “It’s a very clear trend,” explains Giampiero Eugeni, Senior Business Development Manager at LoJack Italia. “People, just like businesses, are moving away from the idea of owning assets and are instead focusing on smarter, more flexible ways to use resources. In this context, long-term rental models, with their all-inclusive formula covering maintenance, insurance, and assistance are becoming increasingly popular. This approach simplifies life for both consumers and companies, offering more predictable financial and operational management.”
What are the main advantages you see in these subscription models?
“I’d say the most significant benefits are two: risk management and financial planning. With an “all-inclusive” package, renters don’t have to worry about unexpected costs due to breakdowns or accidents, because everything is covered. Additionally, fixed monthly payments allow for clearer, more stable financial planning, which is especially important for companies. But there’s also a third key factor: sustainability. Today there is growing awareness around responsible consumption, and rental is a perfect fit for this need.”
Speaking of sustainability, how is it influencing the rental sector?
“Environmental impact has become a fundamental driver. Rental, by its very nature, fits into the circular economy: it reduces waste, promotes reuse, and encourages a more sustainable approach compared to traditional ownership. This has opened up the market to eco-friendly solutions, like bike or scooter sharing services, which respond to the demand for green mobility and align with new business priorities focused on sustainability. It’s a virtuous cycle that’s changing the way we think about consumption.”
Let’s talk about the role of LoJack Italia. How are you contributing to digitalization and fleet management in this context?
“At LoJack, we are deeply committed to supporting this transformation through technology. Our solutions are based on advanced telematics, leveraging strong connectivity and powerful data processing capabilities. We provide companies with tools to monitor their fleets in real time: from mileage to driving behavior, from fuel consumption to more specific operational insights. These data can be delivered as raw formats, integrated via APIs into corporate systems, or visualized through our intuitive dashboard.”
What concrete benefits does this type of management bring?
“There are many advantages. First, optimization: having detailed information helps reduce operating costs, improve vehicle efficiency, and anticipate potential issues. Additionally, analyzing driving styles supports safer and more sustainable driving habits, lowering fuel consumption and emissions. Our technology is not just a control tool, it’s a strategic ally for businesses aiming to stay competitive in a market that’s increasingly driven by digitalization and environmental responsibility.”
How do you see LoJack’s future in this scenario?
“I see it as very promising. We’ll continue to innovate, focusing on solutions that integrate technology and sustainability to meet the needs of an evolving market. We aim to be a key point of reference for those seeking intelligent and responsible resource management. Digitalization will be the key, and we are ready to lead this change.”
